Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Star Wars: The Force Awakens

I was very lucky to get to work on the VFX for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. One of the sequences I worked on was the TIE fighter sinking into quicksand. In this sequence I did all the sand simulations.

Avalanche: Individual project created in 8 weeks using Houdini, Nuke and PFTrack. The effect was created using two layers of particle simulations and a layer of Houdini Pyro simulation. Compositing was done in Nuke. OSCAR: Group project created in 7 weeks using Houdini, Nuke and PFTrack. I created a feather asset to procedurally create and [...]

“Particle Play”

“Particle Play”

This is a small test I created using RealFlow and Krakatoa. The particles were simulated as a fluid, but after playing with different forces I was able to achieve a smoke-like result. This was also a test to see if I was able to completely blend colours of particles together using Krakatoa. Half of the [...]

Water Splash (RealFlow + Krakatoa)

Water Splash (RealFlow + Krakatoa)

This was a small test to see if I managed to render calm water using Krakatoa. Krakatoa is a volumetric particle render, so the water surface is not rendered as a mesh. Using this technique of rendering the water, splash and foam particles automatically blends together with the body of the water. The same technique [...]
